Esther chapters one and two describe the setting of the story such that the world that the Jews live in is one in which God is not regarded but he is at work in spite of negative appearances. Chapter three takes a dark turn. What seems to be a personal conflict between two individuals escalates into a plan to annihilate the entire race of Jews throughout the known world. What chapter three shows us is a picture of what God’s enemies are like and the power they possess. Since God’s enemies are still at work today it gives us insight into how we live our lives when there is opposition. Which is constant no matter the various forms that opposition takes.
**Note, at the beginning of the sermon Pastor Eric takes a few minutes to discuss the recent Supreme Court decision legalizing same sex marriage and what the Christian’s response should be.
