We are interested in interesting people. It is why the magazine rack is filled with offerings that talk about all the happenings in the lives of the rich and famous. Part of the human interest in others is sinful when it shows up in gossip and voyeurism. But our interest in people is also a good thing when we wonder, “How’d they do that? What did they overcome? What did they accomplish?” In fact, Jesus commands his followers to live their lives in front of others such that their “light” shines before men and God receives glory (Matt 5:14-16). As we go out to share the Gospel we want to live unique, noteworthy, remarkable lives such that those around us ask about that uniqueness. In today’s passage we look at the content of unique life. What does God say we should be like if we are to shine before others and by his grace share the Gospel with them.
