The book of Hebrews is written to a young church in Rome that is struggling to follow Jesus. They are facing persecution for their new found faith. Some in the congregation have concluded that going back to being a Jew is just as good as being a Christian. They believe this because of the role angels played in their Judaism. The thought was that since angles were a part of mediating the law to Moses (Act 7:38) then they are just as good as Jesus. And anything is better than continuing to suffer for this new faith. In today’s passage the author of Hebrews shows us why Jesus is better than angels.
