There is a world of difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Lots of people know how to eat healthy. Far fewer actually order the kale salad with grilled chicken instead of the burger and fires. All married people know they must love their spouse for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, as long as they both shall live. But living that promise out is a much more difficult proposition. It is very easy to know what the Bible commands, its teachings, its instruction, and it is far more difficult to consistently obey those commands. But how can we do it? How can we be more intentionally and persistently be a person who lives out what we know to be right. In today’s passage we watch Esther live out what she knows she must do. In her example we find a model for how we can be the kind of people who are those who obey the Word and not simply know it.
