For decades now, there has been a struggle between two combatants.

However, one of the combatants is always getting tripped up because he is so focused on victory. He is so focused on getting the upper hand, on succeeding in his attacks, that he is often blinded and gets tripped up.

Wile E. Coyote is always too focused on the small details, he is always too focused on that which he should not be focused on, and it gets him tripped up.

The author of Hebrews wants us NOT to get tripped up in focusing on what we should or should not be like, but instead, he wants us to focus on that which necessitates focus.
