We are what we repeatedly do. If we get angry routinely. We are angry. If we are joyful regularly we are joyful. If we gossip normally. We are a gossip. Try as we might to make excuses for ourselves if the habit is negative, or draw attention to ourselves if the habit is positive, we are what we repeatedly do.
The difficult part of this truth is that God, through the Apostle John, makes clear that at a soul level we are what we repeatedly do. If we make a habit of sin, a practice of it, we are sinful and therefore a child of the Devil. If we make a habit of righteousness, a practice of it, we are a child of God.
In today’s message, Mission Church Family Pastor Jacob Simmons walks us through a difficult text to help us see how to live as a child of God and be one who practices righteousness.
